ANDREAS DARWIS TRIADI Was born in 1954 in Solo, a town in central Java about 300 miles from Jakarta. He was Brosught up in a cultural environment in a traditional Javanese manner and at an early age become interested in painting. He particularly admired Rembrandt and his talent for using light. He bought many photo books and took in a long line of seminars. By 1981 he was ready to start his own professional photographic career.

He has taken part in a great number of exhibitions and in the course of time received many distinctions and has had his achievements acknowledged both at home and abroad.

Darwis is now cocentrating on fashion photography. Themost prominent models are within easy reach as his wife runs a model agency. He is also within easy reach of magnificent natural scenery, something he often makes use of in his work.

Nowadays he supplies photographs for everything from magazines to posters, from advertising compaigns to company brochures. He receives a good number of assignments from international advertising agencies.
"When I work outdoors I only take along a portable flash, just to open up the shadows. Otherwise I always have three or four assistants with me.
Darwis Triadi has produced three books:'KEMBANG SETAMAN", a large coffe table edition, as well as "SECRET LIGHTING", a book about lighting techniques and "TERRA INCOGNITA TROPICALE", an exclusive black and white infrared photography.
